I knit it by hand from the same natural cotton yarn I use in my Braided Bucket Hat, but I leave the brim soft and unstructured so it tucks easily into a diaper bag, folds flat in a beach tote, and never feels stiff against a sleepy little head. It's a hat that travels well and washes gently — the kind of small, useful thing that ends up in every summer photo.
